Hiking, climbing or mountain biking?
Your excursion here will be energetic. Franconian Switzerland is located in the middle of the tri-city area of Bayreuth, Bamberg and Nuremburg. In the idyllic natural landscape at Nuremburg's doorstep you can go hiking or climbing, play golf, go mountain biking or go bouldering. Visit Franconian Switzerland. It's well worth it!
Sailing, surfing or swimming fun?
The Altmühlsee, Brombachsee, Rothsee, Dennenloher See and Hahnenkammsee lakes are 30 km from Nuremburg and form the Franconian Lake District. In addition to sailing, surfing or enjoying the lakes' bathing spots in summer there is even more to do here. There are also well-maintained biking and hiking trails.
For young and old alike
The zoo doesn't just appeal to children, it also attracts adults with its abundance of attractions. At Nuremburg Zoo, where Flocke ("Flake") the polar bear was born, you can marvel at the dolphins in Southern Germany's only dolphinarium and of course pay a visit to the offspring of the numerous animal families.
Activities with children
With its indoor and outdoor play areas, the Playmobil FunPark in Zirndorf offers diverse leisure activities for young children. Here, on the 90,000 square metres of space, the concept of 'playing, moving and experiencing' can be fully put into action. All the young discovers' senses are stimulated at this park. Visitors can entertain themselves at the amusement park's various colossal Playmobil worlds and marvel at all the attractions, even if the weather leaves a little to be desired.
Numerous museums in the historical city of Nuremburg await your visit. Among others, the Neues Museum, the Nuremberg Transport Museum, the Nuremberg Toy Museum and the Germanisches Nationalmuseum offer you interesting and captivating exhibitions.
The exhibitions dedicated to the 175-year existence of Nuremberg's first railway line, as well as the re-opening of Courtroom 600 in October 2010 in which the famous Nuremberg Trials were held 65 years ago, should not be missed.
Shopping at Ingolstadt Village
Ingolstadt Village offers an exclusive shopping experience with over 100 boutiques of various national and international brands. There you are able to get discounts up to 60%. Every Saturday the shopping express runs between Nuremberg and Ingolstadt. At 09:30 AM the bus stops by Le Méridien Grand Hotel Nuremberg. Costs are € 10 per person (children up to 16 years are free). The bus will return at 04:00 PM. With a travel time of only 1 hour Ingolstadt Village is one of the favourite attraction for a day trip.
